What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a trance like state characterised by: relaxation, heightened imagination and extreme suggestibility. It is often compared to dreaming. The hypnotised subject remains fully conscious and extremely focuses on the subject at hand.
Because of this extreme focus, your mind is able to imagine vividly that which is being suggested to you. If while in the hypnotised state, you are told that you are standing on a sandy beach on a hot summers day, your mind creates that scenario for you. So you are able to focus on that and will perhaps feel the sand beneath you and the sun gently warming your skin.
In this state, the subject is highly suggestible. This is excellent for allowing positive ideas and thoughts to enter the mind of the subject for example the subject is informed that they will enjoy feeling confident and enjoy flying.
How does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis works by accessing your subconscious mind directly. Normally,we are only aware of the thoughts in your conscious mind. You consciously think over problems, ponder where you put your keys, etc. Your subconscious mind works together with your conscious mind to cause action. It accesses the vast store of information that lets you solve problems, construct sentences or locate your keys.
Your subconscious mind takes care of everything that you do automatically. you ordinarily breathe without consciously thinking about taking a breath in and out, Nor do you normally think about every action involved in walking, from taking one step in front of another. You simply walk. You are able to do this, because your subconscious mind knows what you need to do and enables you to do it.
The deep relaxation and focusing exercises involved with hypnosis work to calm and subdue the mind, so that ideas can directly reach your subconscious mind. This has the effect of putting powerful thoughts into your subconscious mind positive thought to allow you to have a better rewarding life.
